Kevin Oliver, Jr. is a saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and standup comedian. His musical writing and improvisations are honest and digestible. The writing lays down an unassuming groundwork for unpredictable improvised moments that are witty, exciting, and overwhelmingly passionate, often times all three at once. Unfortunately, Kevin’s musical sensibilities are pointless because he insists on being silly and telling stupid jokes! With Kevin, you never know what to expect. He dares to peek into the abyss of unexplored territory that exist in interdisciplinary performing arts. Saxophone and standup comedy? Nobody has done that; well actually that’s not true, the great saxophonist and composer Eddie Harris tried — but he failed miserably. Wish Kevin good luck, he’s gonna need it.
