Saxophonist, composer, educator, environmentalist, and multi-instrumentalist Adam Cordero is based in Brooklyn, New York. At 21, his dedication to music has led him to play at numerous established venues in the New York area such as Bar Next Door, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Williamsburg Music Center, and The Jazz Loft. His environmentally-conscious quintet "Arcadia" holds fall/spring benefit concerts, in their last season, they were held on October 4th, 2019 and March 6th, 2020. The concerts raised hundreds of dollars for the Amazon Rainforest and Australian Wildlife respectively. Adam recently released his first album, "Ashland" alongside Odin Scherer on October 2nd, 2020, 50% of proceeds were donated to the Latino Community Foundation's California Wildfire Relief Fund. "Ashland" has been regarded by master composer Kirk Nurock as "lush, soaring, and healing-- the compositions weave through offbeat meters with intellect and grace." Adam was named a National YoungArts Foundation Winner in Jazz Saxophone in 2018, and in 2019, his group performed on the East Coast's premier jazz radio station, WBGO. In addition to playing saxophones, Adam also plays clarinet, flute, bass clarinet, and bassoon.
Adam is interested in environmentally-conscious music, using nature’s boundless unknowns, present-futures, and pasts as a vehicle for creation. His primary project, "Arcadia" is a band that unites people in the need to preserve our environment. The word Arcadia represents harmony with nature and ideas of peace. He hopes his music will inspire listeners to take action against climate change. Adam Cordero's Arcadia consists of a quintet featuring Odin Scherer on guitar, Nicholas Augusta on piano, Solomon Gottfried on bass and Henry Mermer on drums.
Adam is currently a senior pursuing a BFA degree at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he studies with Reggie Workman, Andew Cyrille, Chris Cheek, Billy Harper, Mary Halvorson, and Will Vinson.

Odin Scherer is a guitarist, composer, and improviser from Katonah, New York. At the age of 22, he is now based in Brooklyn, New York. Since moving to the city, he has performed at venues including Bar Next Door, Williamsburg Music Center, ShapeShifter Lab, Tishman Auditorium at The New School, and WBGO radio station in New Jersey. His diverse research interests include West African and Cuban folkloric music, wildlife and ecosystems, Black American music, and impressionist classical music and visual art. Odin’s debut record with Adam Cordero, “Ashland” was released on bandcamp on October 2nd, 2020, which features original compositions from both and raised money for the Latino Community Foundation’s California Wildfire Relief Fund. He also has poetry published in Volume 9 of Eleven and a Half, Eugene Lang College’s literary journal.
Odin plans to graduate from The New School this spring with a BFA in Jazz Guitar Performance. He studies with Mary Halvorson, Tony Malaby, Miles Okazaki, Andrew Cyrille, Reggie Workman, Craig Weinrib, and David Virelles.

In addition to his work at Brave Sound, you can find Mike Shapira behind the drum at notable NYC venues including Dizzy’s Club, Kitano Jazz, Tomi Jazz and the 55 Bar. In 2019, Michael also was chosen by Jazz at Lincoln Center to share the stage with Erica Von Kleist in Whitefish, Montana for a MLK memorial concert, in which he had the opportunity to work with high school students in her program as well as perform alongside her in a state-wide broadcasted radio performance.
//
Austin Zhang started out listening to Dexter Gordon while mowing lawns, humming Confirmation in math class, and playing Deep Ellum bars by night. He left his hometown to study at the Manhattan School of Music where he met some of the most important mentors in his life: Jaleel Shaw, Stefon Harris, John Riley, and Wynton Marsalis. These mentors live the artistic excellence, empathy, and depth of character that exemplify this music and its history.
Since then Zhang has had the great fortune to share the stage with giants of this music: Terri Lyne Carrington, Wycliffe Gordon, Lynn Seaton, Mino Cinelu, and others. In 2019, he immersed myself in the world of music technology and co-founded the NYC music production studio, Brave Sound Productions.

New York City-based Latvian singer, composer and arranger Arta Jēkabsone is recognized by her velvety tone. Arta engages listeners with an emotional and honest, adventurous and joyful expression of music. Recently Arta was awarded 1st prize at Montreux Shure Jazz Voice Competition in Switzerland (2016), 2nd prize at Mid- Atlantic Jazz Voice competition (2017) 3rd prize at Ella Fitzgerald International Vocal Competition (2019). At the end of the year, 2017 Jēkabsone released her debut album ”Light”. Recently her album with Erik Leuthäuser “Yesterday Still Lies Between the Floorboards” came out with support from the record label Unit Records.
The bound with nature is significant in Jēkabsone’s original music. She comes from a small countryside town Kandava, surrounded by forests and rivers, hearing and singing folk songs about nature- sun, moon, birds and Latvian females often compared with blooming flowers. Arta is bonded with nature in her style of writing lyrics.
Arta has performed internationally – Enjoy Jazz Festival (2018), Užutrakio Vakarai (2018) Montreux Jazz Festival (2017), Berne Jazz Festival (2016). She has sung in a funk band, jazz trio and as a backup singer for Sheila Ray Charles, daughter of Ray Charles. In March 2017 she took a part in Montreux Jazz Academy adventure featuring prestigious mentors like Kurt Rosenwinkel, Marcus Miller, Yaron Herman and etc. She was nominated for Best Concert Recording and Best Debut in Latvia’s Music Award of the Year “ Zelta Mikrofons” for her work and performance with Electric Combo (RDKS).
//
Pianist, composer and arranger, Baden Goyo graduated from Lino Gallardo Music School and specialized in Jazz and Popular music with the Master Gerry Weil. He was the principal pianist of the Simon Bolívar Big Band Jazz, (one of the most prominent jazz Project in Venezuela in last decade) performing in several festivals and prestigious stages both nationally and internationally such as: Jazz al Parque (Colombia), Dizzy’s Club Jazz at Lincoln Center (New York) and New England Conservatory (Boston). After putting together his own Jazz Trio, Baden performed in several national festivals and theaters as a band leader: Noches de Guataca, Festival de Jazz de Paraguaná, Festival de jazz de Barquisimeto, etc. By 2014 he was considered one of the most important pianists of his home country, which allowed him to play and collaborate with most of the relevant Venezuelan artists: Pablo Gil, Rafael “el pollo” Brito, Aquiles Baez, Eddy Marcano, C4 Trio, Kiara, Mirna Rios, Primate, etc.
His successful career both as a pianist and composer in Venezuela is reflected within the important Book of Banesco entitled "A New Musical Country" which includes him as one of the youngest and most promising figures in Venezuelan Jazz, dedicating an entire section to his career. Furthermore, his work as composer and arranger has been acclaimed both in the Venezuelan audiences and internationally as well, reaching the peak recently in 2017 when he was awarded with 2 Latin Grammy (Best Album of the Year & Best Album of Salsa) and 1 Grammy (Best Latin Tropical Album) through his collaboration (as composer) with Ruben Blades, who wrote lyrics for one his compositions (¿Adónde?) and include it in his latest album entitled “Salsa Big Band"
